Department Service Officers

Temporary Financial Assistance
Since its establishment in 1925, The American Legion Temporary Financial Assistance (TFA) program has awarded cash grants to minor children of veterans who are eligible for American Legion membership.
These grants help families in need meet the cost of shelter, food, utilities and health expenses, thereby keeping the child or children in a more stable environment. Click Here to learn More.
Disposal of Non-Serviceable Flags
The Ceremony for Disposal of Unserviceable Flags is outlined in Resolution No. 440, passed by the 19th National Convention of The American Legion in New York, Sept. 20-23, 1937. The ceremony has been an integral part of American Legion ritual since that date. Click here to learn more.
American Legion Post 70 designates an “Honor Guard” as a unit that provides funeral and/or graveside ceremonies in conjunction with the local funeral home. This unit may perform all aspects of the ceremony if there are no active military personnel available, or at the funeral director’s request after consultation with the family. The ceremony would consist of flag folding & presentation, playing of taps, and a rifle salute. Click here to learn more.
