Local Walmart to Assist Community Veterans

An Early Christmas Present

Victory Post 70 received a $2,500 grant from the local Walmart to assist community veterans, families and children.

Patrick Shannon, Shelbyville Store Manager, a military veteran, and Purple Heart recipient, says “I am proud our company is able to provide this grant to the local American Legion post.  Walmart has a long history of supporting members of the military – active duty, reserve, and National Guard – their spouses and their families.” The American Legion is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans.

“This grant couldn’t have come at a better time, said Roger Clark, Commander of Victory Post 70, “our requests for assistance increase around the holidays. The funds will be used to assist veterans and their families, not only during the holidays but throughout the year.  We truly appreciate the generosity of Walmart and their support of The American Legion and our mission to support veterans.”
